Rainy this morning but luckily just some showers. We still had our short walk to Lei Yue Mun. Started from Exit A2 of Yau Tong MTR station (go downstairs first), we walked along Cha Kwo Ling Road and within 10 minutes, we already reached Sam Ka Tsuen Typhoon Shelter, Lei Yue Mun Seafood District is just nearby. In the past before the construction of MTR (Kwun Tong line), it took you quite a long time for Lei Yue Mun, but now you can come here within a short time ~ just take an MTR and a 5-10 mins' walk!! A good place for a city walk!

Sam Ka Tsuen Typhoon Shelter~ still looks the same as in the past! Fishermen in the past rowed their boats here and asked the tourists whether they would like to have a ride or not..... Then they even cooked seafood for the tourists on the boats~ fishermen lived on the boats, so there was a little kitchen on every boat (now NOT allowed to do so for safety!!). In the past, as I have heard from other people, fishermen grabbed sea creatures directly from the water and then cooked those poor animals in front of the tourists.

J
Our trip started from here....

J
The long, slippery and smelly corridor for seafood~ a paradise for seafood lovers, but a horrible HELL for poor sea animals!

J
A seafood restaurant already closed~ now only a dog acting as the "security guard". (I remember that this restaurant is already "shut down" when I came here in 2008!)

J
The famous light-tower of Lei Yue Mun!!

J
Now @ seaside of Lei Yue Mun~ The opposite side is Shau Kei Wan (a fish port in the past), we can also see the HK Museum of Coastal Defense clearly from here.

J
There are also some stilt houses along the seaside of Lei Yue Mun (just like what you can see in Tai O)

J
Lots of village houses along the seaside.

J
We finally reached Tin Hau Temple... then we found out that there are lots of rocks with funny shapes at the back of the temple, we took many photos @ the seaside at the back of the temple, a really beautiful place!

J
We were back to Sam Ka Tsuen Typhoon Shelter and there is a ferry pier nearby. You can go to Sai Wan Ho or Tung Lung Island from there, see the timetable in the photos for reference. (Tung Lung Island is an outlying island, well-known for camping and rock-climbing, but ferry service is limited~ only available on Saturdays and Sundays, please get enough information for this place before you go)

J
Another side of Sam Ka Tsuen Typhoon Shelter~ you can see lots of floating restaurants here, the hill at the back is called "Devil's Peak"!! (There are war relics @ Devil's Peak)
