Start: Embankment of Tai O, near bus stop

Distance post: L056, at Nam Chung

Location of Shui Lo Cho (Noisy water): After L061, and then walk for 200-300m

End: Yi O Dike, near Yi O Village, then return to Nam Chung

Time taken: about 2 hrs 30 mins, 12:45pm lunch @ Nam Chung.

Reached Tai O at 10:15 this morning.

First I walked through the long embankment near the bus stop and reached Nam Chung. And then, I walked up the hill to Yi O.

I was alone today, as my companion got sick yesterday and couldn't come this morning.

Started from Tai O Embankment, going to Nam Chung side.

a

Very hiker-friendly concrete road, from Nam Chung to Nga Ying Kok, then to Yi O.

a

Still near the starting point.

a

@ L059, still had to walk for a while before I can reach Nga Ying Kok campsite.

a

Here we are at Nga Ying Kok!! See the back of Tachibana san! The sea cape of Nga Ying Shan (mountain) is Nga Ying Kok!

a

The waves quite strong @ Nga Ying Kok.

a

Here we can go to Man Cheung Po (the name of a famous waterfall near Tai O) from here, but NOT today.

a

The road to Man Cheung Po waterfall is quite steep, be careful.

a

Now we're at Nga Ying Kok Campsite.

@ Nga Ying Kok campsite.

a

Water source is here~ Untreated stream water, but as the water pipe is old, there's some rusty smell in the water.

a

Left Nga Ying Kok and now at Yi O Bay.

a

A jetty at the back of Tachibana san, for the villagers of Yi O village in the past.

a

There's a sandy path leading to "Shui Lo Cho" near the Yi O jetty, a famous stream @ Yi O.
"Shui Lo Cho" means "noisy water" in Cantonese, the sound of the stream was very loud in the past that could be heard even deep inside the old Yi O village.

Tachibana san was standing at the entrance of "Shui Lo Cho stream", but the path is steep, sandy and full of rocks.

As ONLY me and Tachibana san is here today, we didn't climb up to see the waterfall.

a

Looking at Shui Lo Cho Stream from the entrance.

a

"Noisy water" running down from Man Cheung Po to "Shui Lo Cho", and then going to the lower stream and flow into Yi O bay.

a

After L061, we will see the lower stream of "Shui Lo Cho", Noisy water

a

There's an abadoned ruined village house at the back of the lower stream of "Shui Lo Cho", there should be a path near this ruined house which leads to the stream.

a

The beauty of "Noisy Water" attracted Tachibana san.

a

The back is Kai Kung Shan (mountain).

a

Now we're @ Hoi Shan Temple (The temple for the God of Ocean)

A little temple next to the Temple of "God of Ocean" is for "God of Mountains".

a

The forest path is quite dark.

a

The dike of Yi O is here! It's famous for seeing the beautiful sunset at the dike.

a

Tachibana san stood on the dike to see the Yi O Wetland.

a

Time to go back to Nam Chung.

a

Yi O is very far away from Tai O, this is why I can enjoy the time being alone here. But Yi O looks more beautiful because of the silence.

The way back.

a

Back to Shui Lo Cho (Noisy water) again.

a

A close-up of Shui Lo Cho.

a

A forest nearby, let's go inside to have a look.

a

I was trapped among the branches of the trees, spiders hanging down near me, and I felt that I was playing inside a Halloween House!

When I ran out, I could find that there were spider webs on my T-shirt.

a

There are some abandoned stone village houses of Yi O village.

There are both Old and New Yi O villages, but because of NO public transport, both are now abandoned.

I could see the embankment of Tai O.

It's the end of Lantau Trail from Nga Ying Kok.

a

A lovely cat.

Moved forward to "Tung Fong Siu Kei Yuen" restaurant in Nam Chung for a veggie lunch. But as requested by customers, meat is also provided upon request.
When you make an order, be sure you're ordering "vegetarian" food.

a

As I'm a single traveller today, I sat near the entrance of the restaurant. But I think this place is the best of all. I can see the ponds and trees clearly when I'm eating.

a

My lunch today: Fried rice with diced mushrooms. The food here is delicious, a good restaurant.

a

Back to Tai O market via the embankment.

a

Reached Sun Kei Bridge.

a

Walked to the way to Sham Wat to Po Chu dam.

a

Does this place look like a green gemstone floating on a pond?

a

The mountain road at the back is the entrance of "Tung-O Ancient path", Tai O entrance. If you walk to Tung Chung from here, it takes about 5 hours, totally about 13km in length. Also will pass through Sham Wat village and Sha Lo Wan village.

a

Steps to go up the hill.

a

The sandy mountain path is very near to the edge of the cliff. If you want to walk from here, please be careful.

a

There are also stilt houses near Wang Hang.

a

Wondering around inside Tai O market, this is the end of my Tai O and Yi O trip today.
